From daily stress to injuries, acupuncture can help restore balance to mind, body, and soul. According to modern science, the placement of painless, thin pins at strategic locations on the body stimulates sensitive and powerful points throughout the nervous system. The World Health Organization attests that acupuncture can effectively regulate: post-operative pain, carpal tunnel, neck and back pain, sciatica, and various other mechanical issues.
The POSE Method® utilizes key postures or poses identified during movement. The Running Pose incorporates the whole body, vertically aligning shoulders, hips and ankles with the support leg while standing on the ball of the foot. Shifting from one leg to the other by falling forward and allowing gravity to do the work, the support foot is pulled from the ground, while the body falls forward; the other foot drops down freely in a change of support.
Muscle or soft tissue injuries can be grouped into basic sprains and strains. They can cause pain, swelling, and sometimes result in inability to move the joint. Ankle sprains are the most common type of sports injury. Joint injuries can be much more complex. Basically, they can be the result of anything from inflammation or irritation of the joint to tears and degenerative changes. Many heal with treatment and time, some will require advanced imaging for diagnosis, and possible surgery to correct.
Please refer to the information found under Joint & Muscle injures, Repetitive Strain injuries and Tendinitis.
The majority of acute back pain episodes are due to a muscular strain and postural problems. With a little treatment, exercises and guidance, these injuries will usually resolve within anywhere from a few weeks to three months. In the case of patients with low back or neck pain that lasts longer than three months, or patients with predominantly leg or arm pain, a more specific and definable problem should be explored.
The term “repetitive strain” injury can be misleading. Also referred to as repetitive injury, repetitive motion injury, repetitive trauma, and overuse injuries, RSIs can be caused by repetition, force, rapid movement, overuse, static loading, excessive strain, uncomfortable positioning of limbs, or holding one’s posture in an unnatural, constrained or constricted position.
Tendinitis, also known as Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow & Jumper's Knee, is inflammation or irritation of a tendon – any one of the thick fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone. The condition causes pain and tenderness just outside a joint. While tendinitis can occur in any tendon, it's most common around your shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and heels. Tendinitis can typically be treated successfully with physical therapy, rest, and pain medication.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint in your body, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine. Osteoarthritis symptoms can usually be effectively managed, although the underlying process cannot be reversed. Staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and other treatments may slow progression of the disease and help improve pain and joint function.

Research has demonstrated that “pre-hab” or “rehabilitation prior to surgery” may help improve outcomes post-surgery. Our clinicians will work closely with you and your surgeon to optimize your results.
